Iva!!

Spending weekends at DL's Shady Hollow Flea Market has given me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful peeps, one of those delightful people is Iva. She has the building to the west of me and fills it [with the help of hubby Tom] with some of the most unique, fun stuff. She become instant friends with my sister Mary as they both had daughters living in NYC and would visit for long periods of time about the beauty and wonder of that city. Blah, Blah, Blah....just kidding!!
Ok, were I'm going with this post is that she invited Mary and I to spend a weekend with her and Tom at their lake home outside of Park Rapids, of course we quickly excepted and a weekend was penciled in. Thank goodness they have reverse in vehicles because I think we spent most of our time in that gear, but finally we arrived and soon found out that she is the hostess with the mostess...we instantly felt at home. She wined and dinned us and took us to her favorite junk shops...so much fun was had by all. Back at home we visited while she prepared the best meal ever. I took lots of pics of their wonderful, cozy home and would like to share them.

Personal Chalkboards for Grandkids

Jess, Ryan and 4 children came for the weekend. In a perfect world we would have been able to go outside and sled, build a snowman, go to the barn to see the cats, anything to use up bottled up energy....but a perfect world it is not...with a 25 below wind chill we were confined to the house. Time for a kid project!! We decided on their own personal blackboards for their bedroom doors. Patterns were made for a skirt board for the girls and a tee shirt board for Justin. Supplies were gathered up and a project was underway.

DIY Project

Daughter Jessica and I were shopping for something to put on top of her new buffet, vintage..of course..from my private furniture stash. She had found a pair of large, chunky candlesticks that she "LOVED" but the price made us both gasp....and walk away. She decided that it wouldn't hurt to look a bit more or play the lotto. Hubby and I returned home and I continued to think about her desire....and then I went to work. I purchased a pair of ugly brass lamps and a tiered serving tray that I thought would work well for my next project. The following photos will tell the story of the process.

Pr of brass lamps and lazy susan tray.

all are
dismantled and unnecessary parts removed

after deciding what parts would stay and what
parts would go they were
reassembled and several coats of white spray paint added.

The finished product.

Not exactly like the ones she had picked out....
but they will work until her lotto win.
